I’ve taken a bit longer to get this blog posted; so I apologize for the wait. Let me start of by saying that marketing eBooks, or probably any book is a never-ending job, and I’m still trying to get the hang of it. I have to admit that when I first self published, I thought that my romance eBooks were miraculously going to take off selling in vast quantities—NOT! All I can tell you are my thoughts were extremely delusional, LOL.
I realize that I must promote my work, and since I’m no Stephanie Meyer (Twilight’s author), I’m using cost effective marketing techniques. I haven’t got a clue what’s going to or not going to work; therefore I’m in a trial and error period. The plus side of it is that I’m gaining experience as I learn, and that is always good. I’m usually on the prowl for helpful information, and when I first started my search for places where I could spread about my eBooks, I stumbled upon these websites that you can join for free. Take a look below.
This is a popular book lover’s website of readers and authors that get millions of visitors a month. You can promote your eBook on the site according to the right targeted age group and genre, interact with other authors, join book clubs, etc. I like this site a lot.
LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network with 200 million members in 200 countries and territories around the globe. What I’ve found useful are the groups that you can join according to your profession. I like using it to post my blogs or announcements about my eBooks. There also are a lot of really good articles from other members that I find useful.
BookDaily – www.bookdaily.com
I haven’t tried this one yet, but I intend to soon. Authors can set up an account for free in which you will be able to post the first chapter of your book, upload a bio, photo, video and even a link back to your website, which I think is a fantastic bonus.
Social Media’s
I use Facebook (in which I created a fan page) and Twitter (to tweet about my blogs, promotions, etc). I’m aware that there are more out there, but I only use these two because I don’t want to get overwhelmed trying to do more.
I know it’s going to take time to build up a fan base, get friends, etc. In the meantime, I’m taking it one day at a time, and learning all that I can come by on the essentials of what it takes to be an established self published author.
Talk to you soon folks,
R. Lynn
