Here’s the book blurb for Trial of Marriage 2: Sacrifices:

It’s been a wonderful year of growing and being in a good place since Angelique and Trey reunited. However, whenever there is something good, something bad is not too far behind. In their lives, the term ‘happily ever after’, is becoming difficult to achieve.

Out of her coma, Bryn Thornton has been busy getting her life back in order and that has included building a friendship with Angelique. Opening up a new branch of her design company in Pittsburgh, she stuns Angelique by offering her a dream job opportunity she can’t refuse. Accepting the position, however, brings forth positive and negative reactions from Trey, and to make things worse, she also has to deal with her new co-worker, Chad Worthington. He’s tall, good-looking and minus a few characteristics, he’s almost a carbon copy of her husband. She can’t put her finger on it, but she can feel in her gut that there’s something unscrupulous about him.

The issues surfacing around Trey and Angelique are not only restricted to them, and if they aren’t careful, they will extend out to their son. No matter how hard they try to rectify things individually for the sake of their family, matters only seem to deteriorate.

Secrets have always been a big thing with Angelique, but unfortunately she hasn’t fared any better, and the one she has inherited is tearing her apart emotionally. There’s a giant bomb ticking that is about to explode. Neither of them has learned from past mistakes and they have taken their second chance of happiness for granted. They say love can conquer all, but will it triumph this time?

Last call … if you still haven’t picked up your copy of the first book you can still get it today for $0.99, here’s the link to get your copy http://mytinyurl.com/fsmh1gg19c

KDP: Updates Regarding Series Books

Kindle Direct Publishing

Recently, I contacted Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) inquiring about series books, and there was a discussion about some new things happening soon that I thought I would share.

KDP is making updates to the way series books get listed on Amazon.com. Series books are books with multiple volumes whether they’re each complete books, or individual sections of a longer book. In making these books easier for customers to find, in mid-May they are updating how they organize them in the Kindle Store.

The detail pages will now display the title for series books as Title: Subtitle (Series Title Book Volume). KDP states these changes will help make sure that customers can find all of your books easily.

Here’s how KDP instructed series information should be used:

Series Title: Your Series Title in KDP should be the name of the series. By ensuring that all books in a series have the same value for Series Title, you will improve the discoverability of your books.

Volume: Enter only a numerical value (e.g. 1, 2, 3; not “Book 5” or “Book V”)

For example, if the name of your books is The World and is the second book within your Science Facts book series, your information would be as follows:
Book title: The World
Series title: Science Facts
Volume: 2

The title for this book will show up as The World (Science Facts Book 2). I hope this is information is helpful.

Author Interview

RLA: What was your inspiration to become a writer?

AM: I’ve always been a writer. I don’t think we have much of a choice…lol. I’ve been a reader since my youth. In 8th grade, my Aunt Carol gave me Stephen King’s Christine for Christmas. My life was never the same and I knew that I wanted to tell stories when I grew up.

RLA: Regarding Conduit, your new released paranormal thriller, where did your idea for this story come from?

AM: I always wanted to do a private detective mystery novel. My best friend and I used to joke about opening a private investigating agency together. I thought if I can’t open one, I can always write about one! The psychic / paranormal part of the novel is a little harder to nail down as to where the inspiration came from. I personally do not believe in psychics, which actually made the journey so much fun. Since I didn’t believe in it, I could do whatever I wanted with the idea of being psychic, and I ended up creating a unique perspective on having psychic abilities. It was fun to watch Emily grow in her abilities, and her gift will continue to evolve in future novels.

RLA: How long did it take you to write this book?

AM: I actually started this book 7 years ago. I know…long time. I took several years off from writing because life got in the way, but the book was always in the back of my mind. Last year, I decided I was going to finish the book, and here it is!

RLA: How many books have you written and what do you have in the works?

AM: I have published one other book, a suspense novel, “False Security.” I am releasing a poetry and short story anthology (“the three o’clock in the morning sessions”) toward the end of March. I am working on several projects, including a horror short story and the next Emily Monroe novel.

RLA: Angie…Who is your favorite author and is your writing style similar to theirs?

AM: Dean Koontz has been my favorite author for many years. He was the second horror author I read as a kid. I’m nothing like him, though!

RLA: Angie, thank you for stopping past today, but before you go can you leave us with an excerpt from your book?

AM: Sure, here is an excerpt of David Noakes, the killer in Conduit, scoping out his latest victim from his point of view: By far, Stephanie was the friendliest conduit David had come across in all his travels. Two weeks ago, he met her at a bagel shop, where she bought breakfast for the office staff she managed. She didn’t become irritated when the cashier twice read her large order back to her incorrectly, but she repeated her order with patience and a smile. Everywhere he followed her since that morning, Stephanie exemplified kindness. But a kind heart wouldn’t save her.

RLA: Thank you for sharing that tidbit from your book and for stopping past. I wish you the best with your book.

AM: Thank you and thanks for having me.

 Author Bio

angie

I am a lifelong writer and firmly believe that words flow through my veins. In 2004, I published my first suspense novel, False Security. Since that time, False Security has been drastically re-written and the revised version is available as an e-book for Kindle. I am hard at work on my next novel, Conduit, as well as two short stories and a poetry anthology.

I am a reader first, a writer second. My favorites are Stephen King and Dean Koontz, but I read a wide variety of books and love to discover indie authors. As a geek-extraordinaire, I also love comics and graphic novels. I live in California with my husband, my two beautiful cats, and my beloved dog. I have two sons who are off paving their own way in the world. I grew up in Wichita, Kansas, my hometown and where my books take place, and I’m still very much a Kansas girl at heart. I have studied criminal justice and behavior since high school, and I currently am pursuing my Criminal Justice bachelors degree with a minor in English at Park University. I have played piano since I was five and I love to write music. I am also hard-core gamer. My go-to video games series are Resident Evil, Uncharted, The Walking Dead (Telltale Games), and Dead Space.

Mind Mapping Can Be a Useful Tool

New Picture

Plain and simple, a mind map is a graphical way to represent ideas and concepts. It is a visual thinking tool that helps with structuring your information and makes it easier for you to analyze, understand, remember, recall and create new ideas.

Mind Mapping can be created by hand or software.  Some software is free and there are others that need to be purchased.  In addition, and because it’s not noted in the linked article, if you know how to use Microsoft Office Excel, it’s another good substitution for creating mind maps.

Whichever way you decide, it all starts out with a starting point to which you write down the main idea that you want to develop. From there, you are going to expand by building supporting subtopics, and as you do so, you connect each of them with a line back to the main idea.

The subtopic step will be repeated so that you can make as many lower layers as needed to support your main idea. Just remember that for each new lower level, it needs to be connected to the top corresponding subtopic.  See diagrams below.

 rectangle

I think mind mapping is a great diagram to follow because you can always go back and reference it when you’re stuck or forget something.  Give it a try; it might be a helpful tool for you.
