Last week was quite productive; I got in some writing, and even managed to complete a few things off of my “To Do” list that needed my immediate attention.
A couple of weeks ago, I gave myself a deadline to complete the sequel to my interracial romance novel Trial of Marriage. However, the end of the month deadline is fast approaching, and I’m starting to wonder if I will truly be able to accomplish that deed. Worst case scenario, I will have to extend it another month, however, better late than never. Good thing I only have to answer to me!
Since I’m a new romance author, it has been a never-ending cycle these past two months in trying to promote my work and get my romance ebook website recognized. It’s not booming, but traffic is slowly starting to trickle my way. The internet is full of so much information; it’s just the time that you must put in researching and reading up on things that tends to be a little tedious (yet well worth it). Over the weekend, I watch the Matrix and thought it would be fantastic if I could plug that little do-dad in the back of my head and instantly become an expert in everything. But that’s not reality, only movie special effects, nonetheless it would be fabulous.
I did come across one thing in particular while crossing the internet—backlinks. What I learned was that backlinks enable you to keep track of other pages on the web that link to your posts. For instance, suppose I write a blog entry that Mary finds interesting. Mary then goes to her own blog and writes a post of her own about it, linking back to my original post. Now my post will automatically show that Mary has linked to it, and it will provide a short snippet of text and a link to Mary post. What it all works out to is a way of expanding the comment feature so that related discussions on other sites can be included along with the regular comments on a post. Although, I have done this, I didn’t have a clear understanding until I researched it further. When people say knowledge is power, they have never lied. Until later folks!
